Burst platform rolls out to Sinclair Broadcast stations

Sinclair Broadcast Group is deploying Burst, a mobile-first online video platform, to more than 50 markets where Sinclair owns television stations. The technology will allow its stations to deliver mobile video to broadcast, over-the-top, and other digital outlets.

Adding Burst technology could give local TV stations an edge in getting at-the-scene video content, contributed by individual users who submit content recorded on their smartphones. The initial platform will allow for curated broadcast of user-submitted video, and will prepare the local stations for later deployment of Burst On TV, which enables mobile video to stream directly to broadcast and digital platforms.
