Haivision rolls out automated transcoding in the cloud, online video delivery via Akamai

LAS VEGAS--Haivision today rolled out HyperStream, its Internet media services portfolio that it says simplifies and automates media distribution through cloud transcoding and CDN connectivity.

HyperStream is available as both a user-controlled software as a service (SaaS) and as a fully managed service, offering cloud-based transcoding on the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, and connectivity to Akamai's SOLA Media Solutions for global delivery, security and analytics.

Haivision said the pay-per-use live cloud encoding and distribution via Akamia helps it deliver high-quality, adaptive, live HD video over-the-top (OTT) to Internet viewers.

HyperStream enables users to establish live transcoding and stream management instances automatically within any or all of Amazon's eight EC2 regions around the world. The service is available by the hour and allows users to reserve and initiate transcoding services within minutes.

HyperStream also provides connectivity to the Akamai HD Network.
