Breezeline, formerly Atlantic Broadband, debuts new IPTV service

Breezeline, the new name of U.S. cable operator Atlantic Broadband, is launching a new IPTV service, Breezeline Stream TV.

The Android TV-based service integrates live TV, DVR, on demand and third-party streaming apps including Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO Max and Disney+. The company said Stream TV including live rewind, start over and catch up features along with up to 300 hours of cloud DVR recordings, Google Assistant voice controls and built-in Chromecast.

In addition to the Stream TV Box, the Breezeline Stream TV app can be accessed on both Android and iOS devices.

Breezeline Stream TV will launch in New Hampshire in January and the company said it will proceed with phased launches throughout the year across Breezeline service areas. That includes Cleveland and Columbus service areas, which Breezeline parent company Cogeco bought from WideOpenWest last year for $1.125 billion.

“We are excited to introduce next generation TV with Breezeline Stream TV,” said Heather McCallion, vice president of products and programming for Breezeline, in a statement. “It’s an incredibly advanced TV service, with unparalleled features and personalization options, yet really simple to use. Customers can easily view what they want, when they want and where they want.”

Breezeline is just the latest cable operator to opt for an IPTV or streaming alternative to traditional cable as overall industry focus shifts toward broadband. GCI this year will launch its new Yukon TV service, Cable One last year introduced its new Sparklight TV product and WideOpenWest is selling WOW! tv+.

Last week the company announced a name change, dropping Atlantic Broadband in favor of Breezeline.

“We’re no longer just an East Coast provider, and we’ve long offered much more than broadband, so our company identity must evolve with us. “The name Breezeline marks the beginning of a new, exciting era of transforming our company through new growth, while also elevating the customer experience through enhanced customer care options, innovative products and investment in the latest technologies,” saod Breezeline President Frank van der Post in a statement.
