Frndly TV adds three more Weigel Broadcasting channels

Frndly TV will add three more Weigel Broadcasting networks to its channel lineup, beginning Tuesday. The three networks are Decades, Heroes & Icons and Start TV.

Weigel Broadcasting, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, operates TV networks and local broadcast stations in various markets across the U.S. The latest channel additions are part of the distribution deal Frndly TV signed with Weigel in March, introducing five Weigel TV networks to Frndly TV subscribers. The first two networks made available were MeTV and Story Television.

The new Weigel programs bring Frndly TV’s total lineup to 37 channels. Frndly TV launched in October 2019 with an initial 12 live TV channels for $5.99 per month. Since then, the company has only increased its basic subscription plan by one dollar to $6.99/month, when Frndly TV struck a deal with A&E Networks last November.

Frndly TV also offers classic and premium subscription plans for $8.99/month and $10.99/month respectively. The higher tiers tout features such as unlimited DVR recordings, the ability to watch on multiple screens and more. As of May 2021, Frndly TV reported about 500,000 subscribers.

Andy Karofsky, co-founder of Frndly TV, recently told Fierce Video much of the company's programming decisions are guided by customer feedback. Frndly TV kept its customer service in-house to better have an idea of what viewers want, saving money in the process.
